Cost of Living Analytics

About

Cost of Living Analytics publishes metro-level snapshots using official US government datasets so you can compare income, rent and affordability across cities.

Data sources

  • US Census Bureau — American Community Survey (ACS)

Affordability metric

We use a simple “rent burden” estimate:

Rent burden % = median rent ÷ (median household income / 12)

  • Affordable: under 25%
  • Moderate: 25–35%
  • High: over 35%

Notes

  • Figures are metro-level medians and won’t match every neighborhood.
  • We’ll expand coverage as datasets refresh.
