About
Cost of Living Analytics publishes metro-level snapshots using official US government datasets so you can compare income, rent and affordability across cities.
Data sources
- US Census Bureau — American Community Survey (ACS)
Affordability metric
We use a simple “rent burden” estimate:
Rent burden % = median rent ÷ (median household income / 12)
- Affordable: under 25%
- Moderate: 25–35%
- High: over 35%
Notes
- Figures are metro-level medians and won’t match every neighborhood.
- We’ll expand coverage as datasets refresh.
